Ganoderma lucidum kast is the fruiting body of Ganoderma lucidum. It mainly contains amino acids, polypeptides, proteins, fungal lysozyme, saccharides(reducing sugar and Polysaccharides ), ergosterols, triterpenoids, coumarins, volatile oils, stearic acid, benzoic acid, alkaloids, vitamin B2 and C, and spores also contain mannitol and trehalose.

The triterpenoids of ganoderma lucidum were mainly distributed in the peripheral part of the fruiting body, and the content increased with the maturity of the fruiting body. Some triterpenoids are bitter, while some are non-bitter. The content of triterpenoids varies according to variety, culture conditions and different growth stages. Bitter Ganoderma lucidum generally has a higher content of triterpenoids.
